Barış Gemalmaz is an HSE, Fire Safety, Emergency & Crisis Management professional with 25 years of progressive experience in high-risk industries. He holds a Mining Engineering degree from Middle East Technical University and is certified in NEBOSH Process Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, and Fire Safety, and also holds the British Safety Council International Diploma in Safety Management. His qualifications include NFPA Fire Inspector I and NFPA Firefighter I & II, along with interior and exterior industrial firefighting credentials and additional specialist emergency response training.
Since 2025, he has been the Founder and Principal of Gemalmaz Consultancy and Training Company, delivering consultancy and training services. He also serves as the JOIFF Ambassador for Türkiye.
His leadership roles include HSE, Emergency Response and Technical Safety positions at BP, Botaş International Limited, TÜPRAŞ, Karadeniz Holding and ROO (Iraq).
Among his notable achievements, he led the design, construction and international accreditation of Türkiye's first JOIFF-accredited industrial fire training facility at İzmir Refinery (2023). He also led NFPA Pro Board and JOIFF certification projects for BOTAŞ International and TÜPRAŞ firefighting teams, and contributed to the establishment of Türkiye's first Firefighting Vocational School at Çukurova University. Across his career, he has built full-scope emergency preparedness systems — including firefighting, inland/offshore oil spill response and crisis command protocols — and led road and traffic safety culture transformation programs.
